Soldiers Invade Catholic Church In Benue, Accuse Bishop Avenya Of Keeping Weapons

Avenya said his home and parish were turned inside out by soldiers looking for weapons.

The Catholic Bishop of Gboko, Benue State, Rt. Rev. Williams Avenya, has lamented the invasion of his home and his parish by soldiers reportedly working on the instruction of the federal government.
The military on Sunday, raided the home of the Christian cleric claiming to be searching for some weapons.
The Bishop, however, described the search as barbaric, diabolical and an attack on all Christians. Lamenting the incident, Avenya told newsmen, “This is what happens when you have a one-sided government in place". “Today my house and the entire parish was turned inside out by the military in-search for weapons". “They say I keep weapons. “The Fulani herdsmen go about with heavy weapons killing innocent people and never a day has any one of them been harassed by the military". “There are instances where the military have even assisted them to carry out their attacks ‎on defenseless citizens".
“The soldiers we have in this country are one sided. Why are they trying to divide the very country they are called to defend on religious line?"
