Chicharito signs for West Ham

West Ham have finished the £16m signing of Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen.

The 29-year-old striker touched base in London on Monday to undergo medicals in view of the transfer and has signed a three-year contract with the Premier League club.

He turns into the Hammers' fourth summer entry, following the transfers of Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta and Marko Arnautovic.

"I am exceptionally cheerful to join West Ham United," Chicharito said.

"For me, the Premier League is the best league on the planet and when the open door came, I was frantic to sign for this club.

"It was not a troublesome choice. West Ham is a memorable club, and extremely aspiring – this late spring you can see with the players signed that they are hoping to have a decent season.

"I've had three fabulous years playing in Spain and Germany, yet England was truly the main huge part in my vocation and I am so cheerful to be back.

"I am frantic for the season to begin and to enable the team to accomplish every one of their goals."
