Court Sentences Housewife To 13-Years Imprisonment For Human Trafficking

A housewife Gift Nonye Ukatu, has been sentenced to 13-years imprisonment by a Lagos State High Court for human trafficking.
Ukatu was nabbed in Lagos back in 2015 following a tip-off from concerned citizens, who knew her activities. .
She had earlier jumped bail, but was re-arrested and charged. Ukatu was charged on 6 count of harbouring 2 girls under the age of 12 years old whom she engaged in forced labour, domestic works and enslavement.
Ukatu, was arraigned in early 2016, where she pleaded not guilty to all the counts.
Delivering judgment last week, Justice Jose found Ukatu guilty onn all the charges and sentenced her to 13 years imprisonment. The sentences are to run concurrently.
